Description

Second Home Productions Ltd. was established in October 2004 as the film-making partnership between Chris Randall and Jim Turner, the studios' resident Director/Producer team bringing together combined experience in film and television over the last thirteen years. Their work has been used for TV commercials, title sequences, promotions, idents, film production and theatrical projection design. The pair share a role on the Animation Forum WM Steering Group.

About Jim

With a 'Damn-Fine Art' (his own words) background, Jim began his creative career with stills photography; both documentary and commercial work for businesses and websites in the Yorkshire region. He then moved to Birmingham, working with ITV, and began operating studio camera for CITV, before moving 'on the road' as an ENG cameraman for ITV Central News, sport and ITN.

With 5 years broadcast experience under his belt, Jim co-founded Second Home Productions with Chris Randall on the 12th October 2004. Jim now produces, shoots and lights the many creative projects produced in-house and on location for Second Home Studios.

About Chris

Before living semi-permanently in the Digbeth studios as resident director, Chris Randall started life as a clapper-loader, then cameraman, then animator.

In the recent past, he spent four years working exclusively as a designer and stop-motion animator for CITV, culminating in the creation of 'The Junkyard Jungle,' a promotional vehicle for the channel told through the voices of a talking banana skin, a dead fish and a sparkplug. On the back of this, the 'Chrismice' were born as the channel's Christmas campaign, followed by three more mice, 'Hickory, Dickory and Doc' who carried the channel's pre-school part of the schedule. All three bodies of work won World Gold in their respective categories at the international Promax/BDA Design Awards in the US.

He has since produced and co-directed the studios first animated film, 'The Animal Book.'
