Oscar-nominated, BAFTA-winning director and animator, Ian Emes will be answering a Q&A at a retrospective of his work on 11th September 2011 at the Electric Cinema, Birmingham, as part of Birmingham's massive annual free arts festival, ArtsFest.

The Birmingham-born animator famed for his influential films for Pink Floyd, won a BAFTA and was nominated for an Oscar in 1984 for his short film, Goodie Two Shoes.

Running from 12pm to 2pm on Sunday 11th September, Ian Emes Retrospective: Visiual Mastermind Behind 'The Dark Side of the Moon' will feature screenings of his work, followed by a Q&A chaired by Ros Sinclair, Lecturer in Visual Communication at the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design.

No registration is necessary at this free event, taking place at The Electric Cinema, Birmingham (GMap) as part of ArtsFest.

Emes's career took off when Pink Floyd saw the animation he'd made to their track, 'One of These Days'. They loved it, and consequently commissioned Emes to make a number of other films for them, including the iconic clocks sequence from 'Time'.

Emes went on to produce music videos for a number of hugely popular musicians and bands, including Duran Duran, Wings, and Mike Oldfield.

ArtsFest will also be screening Ian Emes's short The Chain andhis cult classic feature, The Yob from 7:15pm at The Crescent Theatre later that evening.

ArtsFest advise that attendees get to the venue early as spaces are limited.
